The Egg Drop Challenge!!
Tomorrow is Easter Sunday!! What you think when think of Easter….Easter egg , Easter Bunny? So on this special weekend let’s do some experiment with an egg! Your challenge is to build a contraption that will safely deliver an egg from a height to the ground. (Think dropping from a deck, balcony or 2nd floor window.) For this, you can use any household items, but often recycle items work best. As you are planning, think about what happens as an egg falls to the ground. What are some ways you could protect it? We know that it has to fall, so how can you control *how* it falls? This challenge has all to do with physics. It has to do with gravity, force and inertia (Newton’s first law of motion). In the resources today, you’ll see our video of egg drop contraption. There are also videos about main science concepts that play a part in today’s challenge. We look forward to seeing your contraptions and results! Please post in the comment section.
A note to moms, dads & supervising adults: Some of these links go to YouTube. As long as they watch on the webpage, it won’t go to YouTube. Please make sure to monitor your kids as they are watching the attached videos. Things labeled “Primary” is best for grades Kindergarten through 3rd, and things labeled “Intermediate” are best for grades 3rd and above, but you know your kiddos best.
